OPERON is glad to announce the launching of its new product: CT/LGV.
Infections by Chlamydia trachomatis affect humans exclusively. Despite being the pathogen of the greatest prevalence in sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in the Western world, it is one of the least-diagnosed aetiologic agents, due to the high percentage of cases of asymptomatic infection.
There are 18 known serotypes distributed in three biovars or pathotypes, each responsible for a different infectious process. One of them is the lymphogranuloma venereum (LGV), a systemic disease that involves the invasion of the lymph nodes produced by serotypes L1, L2 and L3. Treatment of lymphogranuloma venereum is different from other C. trachomatis infections, so it is important to differentiate this serotype to perform a proper treatment.
The CT/LGV OligoGen kit allows for the detection and identification, with high sensitivity and specificity, of infections caused by CT, and the serotypes that produce lymphogranuloma venereum.
