HLA B27 alleles has been associated with a wide range of pathologies such as ankylosing spondylitis, acute anterior uveitis, reactive arthritis, and inflammatory bowel disease. Among them, the first one (ankylosing spondylitis) has shown an important association with these alleles: from 88% to 95% of affected patients carrying HLA B27.
Ankylosing spondylitis (or ankylosing spondylarthritis, AS) is a chronic, disabling rheumatic disease, more common especially in white people (0.5-1% of the population). It usually appears in males between 20 and 30 years of age.
OPERON, in its constant aim of adapting to our customer´s needs, is offering 2 different technologies for the detection of HLA B27 alleles:
Hybridization on strip: this tecnology is based on the detection of amplified fragments by PCR by hybrization to specific probes bounded to a membrane. For further information please, click here
Oligoimmunochomatography: this tecnology is based on the detection of amplified fragments by PCR by immunochromatographic strip. For further information please, click here
